FinMatch started with a simple problem: most surfers are asked to buy fins with almost no help. The labels are technical. The marketing is vague. The stakes feel small until you realize the wrong setup can change how every session feels.
Too many fins. Not enough clarity.
One wall, no guidance
In surf shops, fins are often the hardest product to explain. Surfers can see the options, but not the logic behind them.
Marketing beats understanding
Most descriptions sound good without telling you what the fin will actually feel like under your feet.
Even good surfers still guess
The confusion does not stop at beginners. Plenty of experienced surfers still second-guess what belongs in the board.
The goal is simple: make the match make sense.
I built FinMatch after working in a surf shop and seeing the same moment happen over and over. Someone would stand in front of a wall of fins, ready to buy, and still have no real confidence in what belonged in their board. The information gap was obvious.
FinMatch turns that guesswork into a process. Tell us your board, your weight, your waves, and how you like to surf. We use that context to narrow the field and explain why certain fins should work better than others.
Three things matter most.
Cut through the jargon
Recommendations should describe real feel, real tradeoffs, and real conditions. No filler.
Match the surfer, not the hype
The right fin depends on the surfer, the board, and the wave. That context is the product.
Turn sessions into learning
Quiver tracking and session logging help the recommendation system get sharper over time.
Tell us your setup. We’ll do the narrowing.
FinMatch is designed to help surfers move from confusion to confidence without needing to memorize every template on the market.
